A heartwarming story of friendship.
My dear friend Varouj Kavoukian shared this heartwarming story with me on June 25, 2025. As you read this, consider that Varouj recently turned 79-years-of-age, and he is physically limited, often using a wheelchair. These are his words:
"A close friend of mine passed away 3 weeks ago, unfortunately I could not attend his funeral because the church had many steps.
"Luckily, I had visited him a month before at the hospital and he was telling me he had made a promise to his 9-year-old grandson that as soon as he got out of the hospital, he would take him shopping. Of course, he never got out of the hospital.
(Story continues from "Read More")
"So instead of flowers or donations, I said to his grandson, 'before grandpa went, he told me to take you shopping and get you whatever you wanted.' And that is what I did.
"The happiness of that 9-year-old boy was priceless. And I felt so good that I had made a gift for my friend but a lot more to see the smile on his grandson's face."
