A kitten thrown out of a car window, adopted by the police officer sent to rescue her.
In July, Harrisonburg, Virginia police officer Timothy Rugg answered a call for a kitten tossed onto the street.
A Good Samaritan called the police dispatch after taking the kitten home and bathing it, but did not want to keep it, instead asking police to take it to the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA.
So officer Rugg arrived to take this kitten there.

When he got there, "She was hiding under a couch," officer Rugg told People magazine. For in her brief life, she had been mistreated and traumatized.
"I reached under and got her, and she immediately crawled onto my shoulder and perched onto it like a parrot and started purring."
The officer tried to leave the kitten at the SPCA but she did not let go of him. The shelter posted a photo on Instagram of the kitten, he had named Penny, laying on his shoulder.
As Penny perched there, he learned the shelter was nearly full. But in the meantime, Penny had captured his heart and he decided to adopt her.
"I just felt like she wanted to be with me, and before that, I never saw myself owning a cat," officer Rugg said.
But they "just kind of bonded immediately, and I just knew I had to take her with me."
When they met, Penny was shaking and shivering in fright. "But [now] she loves cuddling and she will sleep with me and my wife every night," the officer told GMA.
He told WHSV-TV, "She's definitely making my days better and helping me relax. She's great."
