Ralph Braun: Who revolutionized mobility for disabled people.
Megan Wegner’s Answers To My Questions:
· BraunAbility employees approximately 850 in his hometown of Winamac, Indiana with another 250 globally, so close to 1100 total currently.
· We don’t share actual sales numbers, but we are the leader in both the wheelchair accessible vehicle and wheelchair lift markets and have dealers worldwide â€" every continent but Antarctica!
· Ralph did marry as a young man and had five children and several grandchildren. He and his wife were divorced later in life but he remarried.
· Ralph was able to walk for several years, and when that became too difficult, his father would give him piggyback rides where he needed to go. He had a manual wheelchair, but he hated the idea of someone pushing him around. He and his father figured out a way to build a motorized scooter, and the rest his history :)
· The local school did not make it easy for Ralph to attend. He actually was homeschooled for a while due to some fighting with the school board. This is a very interesting (and depressing) chapter in his book. Back to story.
