The Irish and Iroquois National Lacrosse Teams: A great example of sportsmanship.
Eight teams were selected for the 2022 Lacrosse World Games based upon how they finished in the 2018 World Games. The Iroquois Nationals team finished 3rd, and qualified.
But the team was later ruled ineligible because they don't represent a sovereign nation, nor do they have an Olympic Committee.
This disqualification came despite the fact that it was the Iroquois Tribe that invented the sport of lacrosse.
Meanwhile, the Irish National team was selected for the 2022 Lacrosse World Games but in good conscience took a bold action:

They requested that the Iroquois Nationals team replace them in the 2022 World Games.
"It's simply the right thing to do," Michael Kennedy, CEO of Ireland Lacrosse, said in a statement.
"We are a proud member of World Lacrosse," he continued, "and we recognize the importance of The World Games to the continued growth of our sport."
"As much as our players would have been honored to compete, we know the right thing is for the Iroquois Nationals to represent our sport on this international stage."
Because of this action, the International World Games Association (IWGA) announced the Iroquois Nationals lacrosse team will take the place of the Irish team.
"You have gone above and beyond not only for us, but for what you believe is right," the Iroquois Nationals tweeted to Ireland Lacrosse.
"Your actions have spoken louder than words showing everyone the true power of sport, and the spirit of lacrosse. We will never forget that."
