Brad Schofro of Lebanon, Tennessee was on his computer when he suddenly heard his 3-year-old golden retriever Zoie, barking wildly.

Except for barking at squirrels, Zoie never barks. But now she was looking through a window at the front yard, and trying desperately to get his attention.

Brad looked through the front window, and instantly knew why Zoie was panic-stricken.

"I saw what looked to be a 3-year-old boy walking on the driveway of our next-door neighbor," Brad told The Washington Post.

Brad ran outside and spoke with his neighbor, who also did not recognize the child. They were joined by another neighbor going door to door but no-one knew this little boy.

"We were doing everything we could to find out where this kid came from," Brad told The Post.

Brad called the police, and after he told the operator he found a young boy, the operator asked: "Is he wearing gray sweatpants?"

When Brad said yes, "I hear her yell across the room, 'They found him!'" Officers arrived in less than a minute.

Later, the Lebanon Police Department issued a statement, saying that about five minutes before Brad called, a parent had reported him missing.

This tiny boy had meandered roughly 175 yards (nearly two football fields) from his home.

According to the Police statement, "Officers arrived quickly, confirmed the child's identity and reunited them with their parent after a medical evaluation."

The police also commended Zoie for her keen alerting skills.

"They gave her a bunch of love," said Brad. "If it wasn't for Zoie, no one would have realized that this boy was running around in front of our houses."
