80-year-old Eugene Bostick, rescues stray dogs, and takes them on adventures!
Dear Reader: I was moved by these events which were reported 6-years-ago and may still be taking place now. We wanted to share them with you.
What Eugene, a retiree from Fort Worth, Texas is doing is very special.
"We live down on a dead-end street, where me and my brother have a horse barn," Eugene told the animal publication, The Dodo.
"People sometimes come by and dump dogs out here, leaving them to starve."
"So, we started feeding them, letting them in, taking them to the vet to get them spayed and neutered. We made a place for them to live."
But there's more:
(Story continues from "Read More")
Eugene created a little train to take these rescued stray dogs on adventures.
"One day I was out and I seen this guy with a tractor who attached these carts to pull rocks," he told The Dodo.
"I thought, 'Dang, that would do for a dog train,'" he added.
"I'm a pretty good welder, so I took these plastic barrels with holes cut in them, and put wheels under them and tied them together."
Now, he takes the dogs on train rides.
"Whenever they hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited. They all come running and jump in on their own. They're ready to go."
For the dogs, it's a great adventure, just as it is for Eugene, whose intent it is to bring joy to what had been unloved and unwanted pups, pups who are now joyful passengers.
