Eclipse: A Dog Who Rides The Bus On Her Own
Living in Seattle, with her companion Jeff Young, 2 or 3 times a week they would go to the bus stop near his apartment and catch the bus to the local dog park.
Eclipse, a black lab-mastiff mix, observed the process and one day boarded the bus by herself and rode it the 5 or 6 stops to the dog park.

Jeff didn't know where to find her but he decided to check the dog park, where she greeted him.
Now she boards the bus alone and goes to and from the dog park.
Eclipse soon became a Seattle sensation and the Transit Authority filmed a commercial showing her riding the bus system on her own.
Upon boarding the bus, she takes a seat just like any other passenger.
How can she afford to ride the bus? One of the benefits she received from the commercial is her own bus pass attached to her collar, so there is no charge.
Eclipse has also learned to cross the street in crosswalks by watching the other pedestrians and crossing when they do.
And because Eclipse is so well known she is greeted warmly on the bus and everywhere else she goes, including the local stores where she is hugged and petted.
Editor's Note: Dear Reader: During the pandemic, Eclipse is restricted in her movements just like the rest of us, but she and we are looking forward to the pandemic ending.
