8-year-old Brayden Auten a healthy, active child contracted an aggressive liver virus and was suddenly fighting for his life.

None of his family qualified to be a liver donor, and as his time was running out, his family prayed for a miracle. Their prayers were answered.

Brayden was in Children's Hospital of Wisconsin as his liver began shutting down. Word of his desperate plight spread to a neighboring hospital.

There, Camie Loritz, an ICU nurse, was moved by what she heard, and courageously joined the living donor program to help him. It turned out she was a perfect match.

When asked later why she did this, with her tears flowing, she told Inside Edition, "He would have died. I don't think that is fair for an 8-year-old."

"She saved my child's life," Brayden's mother Ruth said about Camie.

Following a few weeks of recovery, Brayden's doctor assured him he was doing well and he could return to his normal activities.

Brayden knew the first thing he wanted to do was thank Camie, and hug her in a reunion that was filled with hugs and happy tears.

Brayden's father James also posted his heartfelt gratitude on social media.

"She has given up time and went through pain to make sure that my son has a chance to walk by my side again and be able to live and thrive like a regular boy."

"I will never be able to repay the gift that you have given my son and all of us!"
