Shana Cletcher of Blount County, Alabama was on TikTok, and found an emotional video about a senior rescue dog named Achilles.

This elderly dog had become a stray for reasons he did not understand, living in an Atlanta shelter. When contacted, the owner refused to claim him.

When a volunteer took him for a walk, Achilles not understanding, frantically looked for his human in the parking lot, going from car to car.

"He wanted to go home," the video caption read. "Please help me find Achilles a home before it's too late," for Achilles was on euthanasia row.

"It was so heartbreaking," said Shana.

Shana and her 13-year-old son Evan already had Lola, a six-year-old rescue pup. But she kept thinking about poor old Achilles, and the fate that awaited him.

She posted about him on Threads. "I need someone to talk me out of driving to Atlanta to adopt a senior dog this weekend on euthanasia row," she wrote.

But instead, thousands of people inspired her to rescue Achilles many sharing their heartwarming rescue stories.

"I am just super blown away," Shana told The Washington Post.

"I didn't expect thousands and thousands of people to just show up and share pictures of their animals..I'm so overwhelmed and honored and humbled."

The day after making her post, she contacted Fulton County Animal Services about Achilles and immediately began the adoption process.

Shana told The Post, the vast reply to her Threads post touched her heart. "It was miraculous to see all these people show up and give words of positivity and encouragement and explaining how much their furry family members mean to their lives."
