They held their wedding in Melanie's grandparents' backyard in front of a dozen family members, with their dog Redman serving as best man.

And then by prearrangement, they went to Laura's Home, a Cleveland shelter for single women and mothers with children.

Still in their wedding attire, they donned hairnets, gloves and masks and then personally served the food to 135-people: Fried chicken, mac 'n' cheese, green beans, potato salad and chocolate cupcakes to everyone.

"They could have just donated the food and gone their merry way," Rich Trickel, CEO of the City Mission, which runs Laura's Home, told The Washington Post.

"But it was important to them to come and meet everyone and serve the meal."

"It seemed like a great way to spend our wedding day," Tyler told The Post. "It turned out to be the most beautiful day ever."

The couple was deeply moved by all the smiling faces, especially those of the little children.

"We're going to give a donation to a charity every year to celebrate our wedding day," Tyler added.

"We didn't do what we did for publicity, but we're now hoping it inspires others to do the same."
