Carol Gardner: It’s never too late to become a successful entrepreneur
“I’m not through at 72,” Carol loves to say, and as you read her story, it will amaze you.

In 1997, then 52-year-old Carol was recently divorced, depressed, and so broke, she was living on her credit cards.
Her divorce attorney told her, “Sweetheart, you need to get a therapist or a dog,” and being a dog lover, Carol got Zelda, an adorable bulldog.
To help feed Zelda, Carol, an ex-ad writer entered a Christmas card contest in which the winner for a year, would receive 40-pounds of dog food a month.
Carol got a Santa hat from her neighbor, and then set Zelda in a bubble bath, red hat on her head and bubbles giving her a white beard.
She snapped a photo and sent it in with a cute caption. Six weeks later, Carol and Zelda won the contest.
Carol then created more cute captioned photos and began the Zelda Wisdom greeting card firm.
The cards became popular, and three years later, when Hallmark began carrying them, they sold “millions and millions of Zelda cards all around the world.”
